ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Wild recovered from a sleepy start because the power play jolted them awake.

A pair of second-period goals against the short-handed Bruins galvanized the Wild to a 4-1 win on Saturday night in their home opener at Grand Casino Arena that kept them undefeated two games into the season.

On the power play, Kirill Kaprizov buried a one-timer set up by new linemate Max Shabanov before Quinn Hughes capped off the comeback with a seeing-eye shot through traffic for his first goal.

Captain Jared Spurgeon’s shot off the rush in the third continued the Wild’s takeover after Boston was ahead less than 2 minutes into the game when Tanner Jeannot whacked in a slick, no-look tipped pass into the slot by Mark Kastelic.

Despite playing the night before in Winnipeg, the Bruins had the edge early, and goalie Michael DiPietro (in only his fifth career appearance) was sprawling out to thwart the Wild.

But penalty trouble caught up to Boston, with the Wild power play finishing 2 for 3.

Their penalty kill was also a factor, going 3 for 3 to stay perfect on the season. Jesper Wallstedt remained a big reason why, stopping all five shots by the Bruins on the power play and racking up 26 overall.

Kaprizov added an empty-netter, his third goal of the season.
