Tyler Boebert, the 21-year-old son of Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert, has accepted a plea deal in a child abuse case that could land him behind bars, according to a report.

Boebert is expected to plead guilty to child abuse/negligence without injury as part of the deal offered by the Weld County District Attorney’s Office, which recommended a sentence of up to 30 days in jail and a year of supervised probation, according to TMZ. Prosecutors have also requested that the congresswoman’s son — who is a father — complete a parenting program.

The case involves an incident when Boebert was 18 and with a girl a year younger.

Boebert was arrested Sunday on a warrant on “multiple charges,” all felonies, including three counts of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office. He was released later that day on $10,000 bond.

“I love my son,” Lauren Boebert said in a statement to NBC News on Monday. “We take allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time.”

The charges stem from a 2024 video Boebert allegedly recorded with a 17-year-old girl, according to an affidavit in support of an arrest warrant, which was obtained by NBC. The girl’s mother later alerted authorities to the clip — apparently of the two having sex — after it was publicly shared on Instagram.

It’s not clear who shared the video to social media.

Boebert was 18 when he filmed the video on Feb. 1, 2024, and 11 months older than the victim, who turned 18 three weeks later, authorities said.

Tyler is oldest of Lauren Boebert and her ex-husband Jayson’s four sons.
